Field Service Engineer (m/f/d)

Your mission

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Service Engineer (m/f/d) to join our team in Ulm. In this hands-on role, you will focus on high-precision assembly, internal equipment commissioning, and structured in-house service tasks for our polarizers:

Assembly & Commissioning:

  • Perform structured assembly, testing, and commissioning of polarizers and sub-assemblies in our manufacturing area according to established technical specifications.

  • Execute standardized technical service, maintenance, and pre-delivery checks on in-house units.

  • Support hardware, mechanical, electrical, and fluidic component integrations.

In-House Technical Support & Maintenance:

  • Carry out routine technical service, inspections, and basic troubleshooting on returned or in-house devices.

  • Follow standardized procedures for component replacements, system upgrades, and calibration tasks.

  • Document assembly and service activities accurately in our internal systems to maintain high quality standards.

Quality & Inventory Support:

  • Ensure high quality and consistency in repetitive manufacturing and service steps.

  • Assist with spare parts handling, inventory organization, and preparing service kits for Field Service Engineers.

  • Report recurring assembly or component issues to R&D and Quality teams to support continuous product improvement.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Provide feedback from service cases, supporting product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Management of spare parts, ensuring availability for efficient service operations.

Your profile

  • Completed technical vocational training (e.g. Mechatronics, Electronics, Industry mechanics or similar) or an Associate Degree / Technician Diploma or Bachelor in Mechatronics, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in assembly, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, or technical service (experience in MedTech, BioTech, or regulated industries is a plus).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical assembly, basic electronics, and fluidic components. 
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong preference for structured, hands-on, and repeatable tasks with high attention to detail and consistency.
  • Good communication skills in English; German skills is a plus
  • Travel: Very low to none (primarily office/manufacturing-based role in Ulm; travel less than 5%).
